RIPPLE (2019)

$200.00

For saxophone quartet. Approximate duration: 4 minutes.

Commissioned by Arn Sprogis, Margot Woods and Irena Sprogis for premiere performance by the Sonic.art Saxophone Quartet at the Canberra International Music Festival 2019.

The premiere performances of this work took place at Gorman House, ACT on the 6th May 2019.

Whilst the title of this work wasn't quite apparent to me whilst I was composing the music, over time I realised that I was picturing ripples upon a body of water - the swelling of different colours and textures, the exploration of the shallows and depths, and the dance-like formations that arise from this unpredictable and malleable medium. The piece twists and turns through a series of ostinato figures, exploring the transient nature of water and its fluidity, beauty and power.
